The Foodies Group, Canada’s most creative and published food events, promotions, and catering company, is hiring Freelance Tour Guides.
The guides will:
- Host curated food tours and unique dining experiences for public, private, and corporate clients;
- Organize the tour from start to finish, creating a superior guest experience by speaking about the food scene and locations we visit, distributing food, coordinating logistics with restaurants, and providing the best customer experience possible;
- Have knowledge of, and research appropriate information related to the evolution of the food scene food, the locations we are visiting, interspersed with general history about the city and the respective neighborhoods we visit;
- Contribute to brainstorming ideas on a regular basis to enhance the guest experience;
- Adapt the content to suit the needs of different clients/guests; and
- Assist in the development of new food tours and culinary experiences.
Requirements:
- Must be able to work at least 1 day each weekend with consistency. Weekday shifts are also available based on your availability;
- Highly energetic, friendly, outgoing, and have a bubbly personality;
- Exceptional public speaking skills with a high level of confidence speaking in front of crowds;
- Strong knowledge of Toronto’s evolving food scene (local chefs, restaurateurs, pop-ups, events, etc.);
- Experience in hospitality, tourism, food services or educational background preferred;
- Creative thinker and problem solver. Must be fantastic on your feet and always have a plan B in place for unforeseen circumstances;
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Able to work independently, be a good negotiator, and plan events in a short time period; and
- Ideally have a Metropass, as many of our tours are transit based.
Compensation:
Based on the skills and experience of the applicant. Limited training will be provided.
