The Future of Food: Interview With Past TESA Winners

Knowing where our food comes from is important, but digging deeper to know the people who produce our food and are creating a sustainable future, is even more important. The Foodies Group and Canada Beef have partnered to interview TESA-winning ranchers who are paving the way for an environmentally sustainable future.

From responsible Canadian cattle care to innovative stewardship techniques, we’ve asked the questions, and these Canadian ranchers opened up to share their knowledge and experience with us! Choose from a selection of videos (or watch them all) to learn about each producer’s exceptional stories and unique approaches to raising cattle.

What is The Environmental Stewardship Award (TESA)?

“As stewards of a vast portion of the Canadian landscape, Canada’s beef cattle producers play a significant role in protecting and enhancing the environment. They continuously strive to improve existing stewardship conservation practices to create a sustainable future – always farming for tomorrow.

Since 1996, TESA has recognized producers who go above and beyond standard industry conservation practices and set positive examples for other cattle producers and the general public.

Each nominee exemplifies significant innovation and attention to a wide range of environmental stewardship aspects in their farm operation. Such innovations extend beneficially to areas far beyond their land, including water, wildlife and air. For nomination and general information, please contact your provincial cattle association.” – (Canadian Cattle Association)

The Future of Food Series: Part 1

It was fascinating and inspiring to learn about the strategies and approaches these ranchers have implemented in raising cattle. We all have a role in ensuring a more sustainable future, and if these videos have taught us anything, it’s that we should look up to our Canadian cattle ranchers, who are stewards in creating a sustainable future.
