ZOMBIE FINGERS

1. Remove crusts from bread and gently flatten the slices of bread with a rolling pin.
2. Spread some cream cheese.
3. Roll up the sandwiches and make indentations with a blunt knife to form the finger joints.
4. Trim the ends of the fingers into a ‘V’ shape and stick an almond or pumpkin seed to each tip with a little cream cheese to form the nail.
5. Add a glob of strawberry jam over the end of the finger for the blood.
BAT BALLS

Preparation:
1. Shape the goat cheese into approximately 2-inch balls.
2. Roll in black pepper and poppy seeds to cover.
3. Cut the pitted olives into thin slivers.
4. Press two olive slices into balls for the eyes and place peppercorns in centers for the pupils.
5. Break corn chips into wing sized portions and insert chips on either side of the balls for the wings.
Want to mix this up a bit? Shape the goat cheese into rectangles and follow the same procedure to make them into tombstones. Chop some chives for grass and create your own cemetery.
EVIL WITCH CANDY APPLES

* 6 Red Delicious or Granny Smith apples
* 3 cups of sugar
* 1 cup of water

* 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
* 6 solid skewers, lollipop sticks, or twigs

1. Remove apples stems and skewer apples.
2. In a saucepan over high heat, with a candy thermometer attached, heat sugar, water, and light corn syrup, stirring until sugar dissolves.

4. Dip apples, one at a time, then transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let cool, about 10 minutes.
Halloween version: to get a very creepy Halloween evil witch feel, use twigs instead of skewers, and, add 1/4 tablespoon black food colouring to your red syrup. Dip apples, one at a time, then transfer to a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Let cool, about 10 minutes.
Minis: Don’t want a full apple. Core the apple and follow the same procedure for minis.
Shortcut: If you are not comfortable, or pressed for time, you can purchase a prepackaged Candy Apple Kit. You can pick these up from most major retailers. Follow the instructions on the box. Add black food colouring.
Happy Halloween entertaining!
