Foodies on Foot, Toronto’s fastest growing food events company, is searching for passionate people for a few positions.
We’re looking for the cream of the crop to fill the following positions:
Freelance Tour Guide/Assistant Events Coordinator (ongoing paid position)
Freelance Bloggers, Photographers, and Videographers (volunteer)
Freelance Event Planners (profit sharing basis)
Tour Guides/Assistant Event Coordinators
We run several different food tours, dozens of food events, and have started to turn away business due to not being able to keep up with the demand. We are looking for freelance tour guides to work on an on-call basis. April to December can be particularly busy.
Our Tour Guides/Assistant Event Coordinators must have the following skills and characteristics:
* Available to lead regular public tours, at various times of the day (best for someone looking for freelance/on-call work)
* A passion and deep understanding of the Toronto food scene (or a passion for food and ability to shadow us and learn more about the food scene)
* Passionate and knowledgeable about the city of Toronto, including some fun and historical facts to share along the way
* A very outgoing personality
* The ability to think on your feet and deal with unexpected turns of events on a whim
* Incredibly friendly, outgoing, and customer-focused
* Would be ideal if you have a Metropass to get around, as, most of our tours involve public transportation
* Punctual and reliable

Bloggers/Photographers/Videographers
In 2014, we will be creating and covering countless events, dinners, restaurants openings, trade shows, and more. This is an ideal opportunity for bloggers, photographers, and videographers that are looking to build their portfolios and make the right connections in the industry. We reach a huge audience of food lovers, media, and other influential people. The possibilities for exposure are endless. For most evenst, you will have the chance to eat and enjoy the experience while covering it. Full credit will be provided to bloggers, photographers, and videographers for any work they produce for our site. There may be instances for paid opportunities in time, however, for the time being, we are looking for those that want to build a portfolio or provide their services pro-bono. If you are passionate about food and have the ability to write, photograph, and/or shoot and edit video, we want to hear from you. Freelance Event Planners
We have several events that we will be putting together in 2014. We are looking for freelance event planners to work with us on specific mid to large scale events on a profit sharing basis. The more profitable our event, the more profitable the pay out. This is a great job for a go-getter that is organized and can get the job done.
Our Event Planners must have the following skills and characteristics:
* Meet with trade and professional associations and other groups to promote and discuss events
* Pursue and meet with sponsors and organizing committees to plan scope and format of events, to establish and monitor budgets and to review administrative procedures and progress of events
* Co-ordinate services for events, such as accommodation and transportation for participants, conference and other facilities, catering, signage, displays, translation, special needs requirements, audio-visual equipment, printing and security
* Organize registration of participants, prepare programs and promotional material, and publicize events
* Plan entertainment and social gatherings for participants
* Hire, train and supervise support staff required for events
* Ensure compliance with required by-laws
* Negotiate contracts for services, approve suppliers’ invoices, maintain financial records, review final billing submitted to clients for events and prepare reports
* Have a passion and understanding of the Ontario food scene, and, understand that food events have a soul all their own
* Your own transportation is an asset as travel is required to some events
We appreciate and support an entrepreneurial spirit. We have spent the last 3 years solidifying our contacts and vendors in the food industry, and, bring that depth to our events. We are looking for a person to help coordinate the events from beginning to end, with more of a focus on logistics and sponsorship opportunities. We will work on a fair profit sharing basis for any profits derived from the event, and, open to growing the events long term with the right people on board.
