Abeego #FoodieDaysOfChristmas Contest
It’s day 4 of the #FoodieDaysOfChristmas, and, do we have a prize for you. Sometimes, you come across a product that is so revolutionary, it could change the world. This is that product. We introduce you to Abeego.
Toni Desrosiers is the visionary behind the product. In 2008 she invented Abeego, the original beeswax wrap, on two founding principles. First, it’s logical. It breathes. If living food needed to be wrapped in airtight wrap the rind, peel or skin would be airtight. It’s not. Secondly, it’s inspirational. It looks good, feels good, smells good and fosters a healthier relationship with food. The best part? She has inspired others to take part in the beeswax food wrap movement -and what an honour it’s been for Toni to pave the way! This is future of food wrap.
We always love some fun facts, so, here are a few:
Abeego saves honey bees by saving food. Did you know the average household throws 1 in 4 produce items into the trash? Imagine the positive effect we would have on honey bees if we took good care of the fresh food they supply us with.
Abeego is all natural. Every ingredient used comes from the earth and will return to it without a trace.
Abeego is zero waste. “Waste” is actually a resource. From day a waste free commitment was adopted so they make amazing twist ties and fire starters with the excess.
Abeego lasts. Planned obsolesce should be obsolete. Beeswax is valuable so Abeego is made durable. You’ll add to your collection before replacing tired wraps.
Abeego uses minimal energy to produce. Primarily people powered, except for their awesome waxing machine that has tripled their output using the same amount of energy.
Abeego was featured on Dragon’s Den, and, Toni was the runner up for the 2014 BDC Young Entrepreneur Award.
Ready to say goodbye to plastic wrap forever? We’re going to get you started with today’s prize, a full set of Abeego beeswax food wraps. One prize giveaway, one step closer to a world without plastic wrap.
Think this product is as awesome as we do? You can actually meet Toni, give her a hug, and pick up some Abeego beeswax food wraps for the food lover on your list, at the One of a Kind Show and Sale until December 4 (Booth V-51).
