Twelve Foodie Days of Christmas: Day 9 – For the Cookie Monster
It’s a sad world we live in, when the Cookie Monster now tells kids that “C is for Celery.” But since we’re all trying to eat a little better, spending precious calories on a cookie means it better be good. How could Christmas come and go without some of Santa’s favorite treat? It’s Day 9 of the Twelve Days of Foodie Gifts, and, we know the way the cookie crumbles.
There’s a reason Mary Macleod has been doing business for over 30 years. With gorgeous boxes and jars featuring a bevy of flavor combinations, they’re perfect for anyone. We don’t want to meet the man or woman who finds buttery, melt in your mouth shortbread unappealing. Just be sure you grab a few for yourself when you’re in the shop. The smell will drive you to consume presents well before they’re gifted.
We know, gluten free this and gluten free that. We promise you won’t even care about the ingredient list when you bite in to a Queen B Crownie or Cocolime. Part cookie, part brownie, flour free, these bite sized or full sized treats are stocking ready. Let’s be honest, even those that are intolerant to gluten are tolerant to cookies.
Christmas cookies are almost always sweet, featuring the smiling, sugar-covered face of Santa Clause, but, here at Foodies on Foot, we’re all about cookies on the cutting edge! At Coach House, Stilton Cheese & Rosemary shortbreads are common place. In fact, for every chocolate chunk, they come back with a cheesy one. When it comes to sipping wine, we think these adult shortbreads would be a great accompaniment.
