One of a Kind Foodie Picks
When participating in the age old tradition of secret Santa, hitting your local drugstore last minute isn’t going to win you the title of ‘best gift giver EVER!’ Since we don’t all have Saint Nick to tweet for suggestions, Foodies on Foot is here to share the best of the best of Toronto’s One of a Kind Christmas Show. From jellies to shortbread, this artisan craft show is giving Santa’s workshop a run for it’s money. Put the down the fruitcake, and check out our delicious picks for the foodie on your list.
Tealish (G43)
Coffee lovers beware. Tealish and their variety of hangover helping, waist shrinking, and taste bud satisfying teas make a great gift. We would rather warm up with a cup of Tealish tea than brave wearing another ugly Christmas sweater. Much rather.
Foodies on Foot Pick: Delicious Detox and Holiday Series Teas ($13.95)
Odile (G27)
Everyone knows that advent calendars are more fun than they are tasty. We recommend you check out Odile’s unique truffles, but good luck saving them until Christmas day!
Foodies on Foot Pick: Canadiana Truffles (2 for $4.50)
Cassis Monna & Filles (H44)
Whether you’re thinking “what’s cassis?” or “score! Cassis!” this variety of jams, syrups, and condiments is sure to tickle the tongue of refined and amateur foodies alike. One of our favourite product lines at the show, we’ll be stuffing the stockings and feeding the faces of our clients with all of these delicious goodies. Take our advice and try the ketchup!
Foodies on Foot Picks: Black Currant Ketchup ($8.50), Black Currant Syrup ($14)
Demo Soap (I54)
With all the treats being shared this holiday, it’s not a bad idea to gift something that won’t add to waistlines. Cupcake, donut, and fortune cookie soap means taking your favorite treats in to the bath, and not being judged for it.
Foodies on Foot Picks: Soap Donuts ($5, 5 for $20), Cupcake Soap ($6), Fortune Cookie Soap Box (6 for $12)
Erin Rothstein (J36)
After hearing Erin discuss her art for a few minutes, you will never look at your food the same. Who thought that toast could be so majestic? What about kisses being “naughty”? Have a chat with Erin, see what we mean, and, take home a slice of this collection.
Foodies on Foot Pick: Kisses ($80-250)
Abeego (V23)
This gift is one that’ll keep on giving! A unique all natural food wrap, Abeego is made with beeswax and can be reused for at least a year if handled properly. You won’t only rest easy that the chef in your life will be able to help save the planet, but they’ll be able to save you some leftovers easily.
Foodies on Foot Picks: Custom and Flats Sets ($16)
CandiWare (D47)
They say to tie a yellow ribbon around your finger when you want to remember something. Well, we want to wear a waffle ring to remember to eat more waffles. This jewelry might be tiny, but it’ll induce quite the appetite.
Foodies on Foot Pick: Phone Jack Accessories ($15)
Coach House Shortbread (F20)
These aren’t your Grandma’s shortbread! From Stilton and Rosemary, to Cheddar and Chipotle, we recommend you take a break from the sweet to sample something savory. We’re sure they’d be finished before they could be left out for Santa.
Foodies on Foot Pick: Stilton and Rosemary (3 for $35.95)
La Nougaterie Quebec (F30)
All it’s life, nougat has played a supporting role. Help it step in to the spotlight with a variety of out of this world bars and bites. Paired in a basket with flavoured marshmallows, sweet tooth fiends will rejoice!
Foodies on Foot Pick: Lavender (1-$6, 3-$15, 6-$25)
Natur’el Tea (F49)
The word “natural” can be very objective these days, but Natur’el Tea is selling honest mixes that you can feel good about. And nothing helps that “too full” feeling more then a mug of something leafy!
Foodies on Foot Pick: Organic Champagne Berry Bliss ($12-15)
Prickly nettles aren’t usually on the menu. But award winning jelly purveyors, Henderson Farms, want you to embrace new flavors on your toast!
Foodies on Foot Picks: Cranberry and Jalapeno, Quince ($5-10)
Organics and Gold (H43)
Instead of rolling down your car window to ask for ‘grey poupon,’ you’ll be rolling up your window so you don’t have to share Organic Gold mustard. Pretzels, hot dogs, and sandwiches will go from okay to gourmet in one smear.
Foodies on Foot Picks: Classical Mustard, While Grain Mustard (1-$8, 4-$28)
Nutra-Fruit Cranberry (H49)
The holidays don’t have to be all gingerbread and cavities. These plump, sweet cranberries will compliment salads, trail mix, and even a big turkey dinner. Of course, you can get them chocolate covered too.
Foodies on Foot Picks: Chocolate covered cranberries ($8.00-$25.00), Orange Cranberries ($4.50-$9.00)
