Cafe Boulud Toronto
We had the pleasure of dining at the new Cafe Boulud at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto shortly after its opening. Not many people know this, but, many of the early talks about launching Foodies on Foot were had at the Avenue Bar at the old Four Seasons Hotel. The old Four Seasons Hotel has a lot of sentimental value to us, so, we were excited to check out the new hotel, and, the first venture of Chef Daniel Boulud in Toronto.
We were immediately greeted by Halla Rafati, the Director of Public Relations. She provided us with a run through of the hotel, described the inspiration of the hotel in detail.
Once the tour was complete, we headed to Cafe Boulud for lunch, where Hani Rastoum, the General Manager of the restaurant, took great care of us and ensured we had a delicious meal.
The menu is broken down into four categories: Le Tradition (French Classics), La Saison (Flavours of the Season), Le Potager (Farmer’s Market Fruit), and, La Voyage (World Cuisine). Since we love French cuisine so much, we predominately stuck to Le Tradition side of the menu.
We selected the following dishes:
Sunchoke Soup, Black Trumpet Custard, Quail Egg, Honey Mushroom
Country Duck Terrine, Foie Black Fig, Pistachio, Spelt Levain
Steak Au Poivre, Dry-Aged Cumbrae Strip Loin, Bone Marrow Confit Shallot, Pommes Pont Neuf, Parsley Salad
Warm Chocolate Coulant: Liquid Caramel, Fleur de Sel, Carmelized Milk Ice Cream
The meal did not disappoint. It was delicious from beginning to end and well executed. If you are looking for somewhere to eat in the Yorkville area, Cafe Boulud at the Four Seasons is a great choice.
